Three years after the great success of the first season, from Monday 1 April 2024, at 12.50 pm, every day, the beloved adventures of “Nina & Olga” return to prime TV on Rai Yoyo with 52 new episodes, already available in preview in boxset on RaiPlay, for an Easter full of joy and magic. The preschool animated series distributed throughout the world won the Pulcinella Award at Cartoons on the Bay in 2021 as “Best upper preschool TV Series” and the “Best Licensed Publishing Project” award at the Bologna Book Fair 2022.
The second season is produced by Turin-based Enanimation and for the first time co-produced by the Australian company Kreiworks, with the collaboration of Rai Kids, and was created by Enanimation, Kreiworks and Nicoletta Costa, famous children's author and illustrator with over 600 books illustrated books published in Italy and around the world and artistic director of the series itself.
The new season sees the arrival of new characters – the little breeze Eddie and the little star Orion -, greater interaction between the worlds of heaven and earth and particular attention to the awareness and management of emotions, incorporating the themes of environment, sustainability and inclusion, alongside the series' founding values such as friendship, kindness, respect, the stimulation of imagination, simplicity and girl empowerment. The first series of Nina & Olga, which aired on Rai Yoyo from September 2021, achieved excellent audience results, generating an entire universe of products and merchandising (audiobooks, soft toys, puzzles, cards, games, clothing, stationery products… ).
At the Writing Directorate Lina Foti, winner of the 2021 Australian Writer's Guild Award for best pre-school screenwriter, also curator of the new elements of the second season. The direction of Lisa Arioli, already co-director of the highly appreciated inclusive animated series “Il Cercasuoni” and of the medium-length film on the life of Saint Francis “Francesco”, the most viewed Italian animated work of 2020, with music by the award-winning Gigi Meroni, has been confirmed. author for years at Hans's Zimmer Media Ventures, while the producers are Federica Maggio for Enanimation, Lina Foti for Kreiworks and Cecilia Quattrini for RAI.
In the 52 new episodes of 7 minutes each, broadcast in pairs every day from Monday to Sunday, the great friendship between Nina, a very sweet 6-year-old girl, and Olga, a special little cloud, kind and a little messy girl, and their friends Teo, Nina's neighbor and classmate, and Bigio, the “hailmaker” cloud, protagonists of many adventures in their respective worlds, that of the Earth (“the World Below”) and that of the Sky (“the World Below”). Together with them, the new arrivals Eddie and Orione and old friends such as the little bird Ugo, the cat Pino and many others.
The television series, born from a concept created jointly by Nicoletta Costa and Stefania Raimondi of Enanimation and based on Costa's own novels, “The Olga Cloud”, translated all over the world (Europe, USA, Russia, China, Japan , Korea, Turkey, Latin America…), thanks to Enanimation saw the inclusion and development of a new beloved character, Nina, a very curious little girl with a head full of curls and who has the magical ability to travel from the terrestrial world to the celestial world and who, together with Olga and her friends, ensures that her magic remains hidden from adults.
