Genesis is to Hyundai pretty much what Audi is to Volkswagen or Lexus is to Toyota. The Korean brand now has everything from enormous sedans to chic SUVs in its catalog, as long as it is a bit luxurious. They even sell an EV in the form of the GV60, but it is the smallest of the Genesi. Time for a real electric flagship, the Koreans must have thought.
Almost ready for production?
So get to know the Neolun Concept, a study model that certainly seems worthy of the term 'flagship'. Genesis does not release dimensions, but you don't have to look twice to see that this device is gigantic. Its design makes no effort to hide this, because with its straight lines and rounded corners, the Neolun radiates stateliness. As with most Genesis models, those lines and angles were created by our very own Luc Donckerwolke, who based his design on the Korean tradition of moon-shaped porcelain pots — hence the 'lun' particle in the name, after the Latin word for 'moon'.
Genesis gives less away about the drivetrain, except that this Neolun Concept is purely electric. This scarce information is of course not exceptional because no matter how production-ready this EV looks from the outside, it is only a study model. In fact, Genesis does not say in so many words that we can actually expect a production model of this one day, even if that is only so likely. Given its size, the Koreans could simply use the platform of the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 7 – and therefore the Kia EV9 -, although we in Belgium are cool with that. Although Genesis has been active in various European countries for years, we are not among them…
