It had been in the air for a while and Quoc's new shoes could already be admired at the Velofollies bicycle fair. The British shoe brand introduces a new top model, the M3 Air. A bright white shoe with two twist closures and a carbon sole. A cycling shoe as it should be in my opinion, especially if you combine it with a fresh set of white socks. The shoes were made with input from Geraint Thomas, who of course also drives them himself.
Whiter than white
As mentioned, the shoes are pure white. Details such as the turn closures and the inside are also white. The brand name Quoc is in light gray letters on the side and back of the shoe. The Quoc logo, an elegant Q, is on the toe of the cycling shoe. The type designation of the shoe, M3 Air, is between the two turn closures. A nice detail is that the brand name is even printed on the carbon bottom of the shoe. So you can clearly see which brand the shoes are from. They did that very subtly as far as I'm concerned.
Compared to the previous top model, the Mono II, the last has been adjusted, creating a more natural fit. The space at the toes has also been increased and there is more support at the ball of the foot. What is also striking are the many ventilation holes on the shoes. On the side and top we see large mesh ventilation holes. There are a number of smaller holes on the side.
The top of the shoe is made of TPU plastic. The feet are also ventilated from the carbon sole, because you see an opening at the front and there is also room for ventilation at the heel. According to Quoc, the combination of a stiff, carbon sole and a flexible upper ensures optimal wearing comfort, and the twist closures make it easy to find the perfect fit. According to Quoc, the shoes are intended for ambitious riders who strive for the highest level, and this is reflected in the properties of these shoes.
If I have to mention a downside, it is the stitching at the front of the shoe, at the point where the two parts of the top connect. Fortunately, the stitching is white so it isn't too noticeable, but there are nicer ways to make the connection. But hey, if that's all…
And then the weight, in size 42 the shoes weigh 232 grams. The price is that of a top model, because the shoes cost € 380. The shoes are available in full sizes from 38 to 47. As accessories, snow-white socks are available for € 21 and matching toe covers for € 45.
