“The role of specialists is, within our National Health Service, a fundamental role in various areas: in research, in appropriateness, in clinics. A role that must be carried out within the path defined by science: I thank Loreto Gesualdo, president of the Fism, for the precious work of the scientific societies, for the contribution they give to research, professional updating, information activities, the definition of guidelines. For some time now, after the pandemic, a policy has been initiated of investments in the National Health Service. The Pnrr envisages, however, above all funding for structures. Today is the time to invest in professionals”. This was said by Flippo Anelli, president of the National Federation of Orders of Surgeons and Dentists (Fnomceo), in his speech on the occasion of the '40th anniversary of the Italian Federation of Medical and Scientific Societies – Towards the States General Fism', in Rome.
“We therefore appreciate – added Anelli – the commitment of the Minister of Health Orazio Schillaci who, since the beginning of his mandate, has worked in this direction. We appreciate his commitment to eliminating, after twenty years, the spending cap for healthcare personnel, to valorise specialists, to evaluate tax exemption measures. Likewise, we favorably evaluate the plan that the Government is preparing to reduce waiting lists”.
What “is needed now”, and “what doctors expect”, underlined the Fnomceo president, “is an extraordinary plan that enhances and favors the work of professionals, in hospitals as well as in the territory. Territory where the doctor must no longer be left alone, but supported by other professional figures and skills, in a synergistic collaboration aimed at providing the best assistance to citizens”.
