School Of Rock 2 and the best time to make it a reality

20 years later, Jack Black's power is brighter than ever, but it will take more than just the actor's enthusiasm to make the movie sequel work

There has never been a better time to do School of Rock 2but the stars would have to align perfectly for this to happen. The original film, which was released in 2003, starred Jack Black as Dewey Finn, who kidnapped an elementary school classroom and turned the students into his murderous gang. It's a timeless idea, which means School of Rock is just as fun and entertaining today as it was 20 years ago. This and other factors mean that a sequel announcement could come at any time, but it may be more complicated than that.

A logical sequel to School of Rock would reveal that Black's Dewey opened a (legitimate) music school in the years since the original 2003 film. This literal School of Rock could be directed with the help of the many talented young characters from the first film, played by the likes of Miranda Cosgrove, Kevin Clark, and Caitlin Hale. Of course, a similar movie could have happened at any time over the last 20 years, but it's a blessing that it hasn't. In the years since School of Rock captivated audiences, the 2020s are the best time to get back into the action.

Many things would have to happen to make it possible School Of Rock 2

Black's current fame makes School of Rock 2 is a likely reality for the next few years, and the actor's eagerness to return to the 2003 film makes this prospect even more promising. Black said in an interview, “I wish there was an electric Boogaloo from School of Rock 2. I'm ready”. However, he also noted that School of Rock 2 couldn't exist without original writer Mike White, who also played Dewey's brother in School of Rock, Ned Schneebly. Since White is quite busy working on the TV series White Lotusit can be difficult to make reality School of Rock 2.

White is not the only person who would need to return for School of Rock 2 worth it. A sequel of this nature would rely heavily on nostalgia, requiring the return of a significant portion of the original cast of School of Rock. Since many of the young stars have stopped acting as they've gotten older, it can be nearly impossible to cast them. The most likely actors to return would be Cosgrove and Joan Cusack, but this may not be enough for School of Rock 2 worth it. Maybe one day everything will line up correctly for the sequel to happen, but only time will tell.
