Marvel Games and the video game industry giant NetEase announced that they will launch a new free team shooter for PC called Marvel Rivals, which has immediately been compared to Overwatch. When it arrives, players will be able to take on the role of 18 iconic Marvel superheroes and supervillains, with more to come in later updates to the game.
In this new shooter title, players can form “an all-star squad of ever-evolving superheroes and supervillains, as they battle with unique superpowers across a dynamic lineup of destructible maps from across the Marvel Multiverse.” The game's description indicates that Marvel Rivals features a story, created by the NetEase writing team, where “the ruthless clash between the tyrannical dictator Doctor Doom and his future counterpart from the year 2099 has forced countless universes to collide in the Entanglement of the Temporal Flow, creating new worlds and still unknown crises.”
“Now, superheroes and supervillains from across the multiverse must fight together and against each other, as disparate groups seek to defeat both Dooms before one achieves domination of these realities,” say its developers.
