The five new sizes of this all-rounder and sports product will progressively enter the market in the second quarter of 2024 and include two 17-inch front ones in the 100/80 and 110/70 sizes and three 17-inch rear ones in the 130/70 sizes. 70, 140/70 and 150/60.
With the new entry-level sizes, Continental responds to the needs of motorcyclists who travel on motorcycles with a displacement between 125 and 300 cc, allowing them to express their maximum potential in terms of performance. These displacements are increasingly popular due to their cost, efficiency and adaptability, and are convincing more and more customers in the major markets of Asia, North and South America and Europe. For example, the 250 to 499 cc engine class has tripled its market share in Germany over the last ten years, from 4.7% to 14%*.
Due to its characteristics, ContiRoad can be identified as a diagonal tyre, capable of perfectly balancing performance in more sporty use with the pleasure of driving in everyday use and in any weather condition. Its optimized silica compound offers particularly good grip in the wet and, therefore, greater safety. For the tread pattern, Continental engineers took inspiration from that of larger radial tires. Furthermore, more material in the areas of greatest wear of the profile guarantees greater durability and reduces the cost per kilometer of the tyre.
The ContiRoad carcass and profile are designed to ensure engaging dynamic behavior and, at the same time, high stability at higher speeds, even at full load. The rubber's rapid ability to reach temperature contributes to all this.
Gonasagren Nair, Product Manager Motorcycle Tires at Continental says: “Our five new tires with a diagonal structure ensure great ease of use and equally high riding pleasure. ContiRoad also offers a very direct feeling when you pick up the pace.” This is guaranteed by the perfect interaction between tread, structure and compound. The result is a contact surface with a very sporty character that ensures an excellent relationship between mileage, stability and self-damping. As regards grip, both on wet and dry surfaces, ContiRoad can also compete with tires with much sportier characteristics. Its versatility and its ability to adapt to the most disparate driving styles and conditions make it suitable for tackling even the roughest roads.
