Not just problems in Hengelo
PVO consists of eight schools spread across the country, five of which have 'a proposed decision to phase out education', the Supervisory Board reported in a letter to parents and students last Friday. According to the Supervisory Board, the reason for closing these schools lies in 'an insufficient or very weak assessment by the Education Inspectorate, the financial situation of the schools and the number of students below the closure standard'. In Hengelo, only the number of students was a reason to pull the plug, according to spokesperson Janneke Dijke. “Hengelo is also by far the smallest of all schools.”
