For a few months now, Microsoft has shown a new approach to its game distribution and the Game Pass service, since they want to expand beyond just consoles, and they are going to achieve this through the cloud part, either on the computer, cell phones and even smart sticks. In fact, some TV brands will integrate the app so that the user just plugs in their controls and gets to work.
In 2025, Xbox Cloud Gaming will officially arrive on LG smart TVs, allowing owners to access “hundreds” of Game Pass Ultimate titles directly from their screen. Among the featured games are Avowed, which will be released in February, and Indiana Jones and The Great Circle, plus those that will be released throughout the year such as Doom The Dark Ages.
In addition to the catalog, users will be able to stream more than 50 select games that they have already purchased, even if they are not part of the subscription service. This approach expands options for gamers and reaffirms Microsoft’s strategy of offering flexible access to its cloud gaming ecosystem, eliminating the need for consoles or additional hardware.
The arrival of Xbox Cloud Gaming to LG follows its rollout on Amazon Fire TV devices in 2024 and on Samsung televisions in 2022. Although Microsoft has not yet specified which models will be supported, it has promised additional details in the coming months.
This move reinforces the strategy of opening access to video games and competing in the growing cloud gaming market. With this expansion, LG joins a growing list of compatible devices, solidifying Xbox Cloud Gaming’s position as a leading service in its category. And of course, they continue with their “This is an Xbox” initiative.
