Rumors recently began to circulate that Valve is already working on a successor to the Steam Deck. This after a presentation that AMD announced its new line of Ryzen Z2 processors which could be used in the next generation of this Valve laptop. However, the company has already denied that this is the case.
AMD’s supposed presentation began to circulate through networks confirming that Steam Deck 2 was on the way with these processors. However, Valve designer Pierre-Loup Griffais has already used his Blue Sky account to deny these ‘leaks’.
In his post he indicated that there are no plans to launch a new model of his laptop PC that uses the Z2. He also indicated that while AMD announced that its processor could be used in laptop PCs, this is in no way a confirmation that Valve will use it. ‘It was only to indicate that it will be used in products like this, they do not announce anything specific’ he assured.
We recommend: They modify Steam Deck to add a second screen and emulate NDS games
In fact, this is in accordance with Valve’s past statements about the Steam Deck, as they assured that they are not planning a successor at this time. This is mainly because they expect a real change in what they can offer consumers, since releasing a next generation so quickly would not be fair to their buyers. So don’t expect a possible successor soon.
What is Steam Deck?
Steam Deck is a portable PC from which you can enjoy different video games purchased on Steam. This from anywhere and with great graphic quality that even allows you to enjoy titles like Cyberpunk 2077 or Red Dead Redemption 2 on the go. You also have the possibility of adding emulators to expand your game offering.
The console was originally launched in February 2022 and has been very well received since then. Over time, different models arrived but only with differences in terms of capacity and the quality of their screen. However, at the moment there are no plans for a renewal, probably because it is very early and it will barely have been on the market for 3 years. Do you think we should already have a successor on the way?
