With the arrival of the iOS 18.2 update to iPhone 16, the suite of artificial intelligence tools, Apple Intelligence, added “visual intelligence” functionality to the device.
Available on all iPhone 16 models (standard, Plus and Pro), this technology allows you to obtain information quickly and efficiently through the camera. Users can access a series of options that we will describe below.
Users can get detailed information about nearby businesses, such as available services, their hours, and how to contact them. For now, only in the United States, this feature will also allow you to view reviews and ratings, as well as the ability to make reservations or home delivery orders directly from the camera.
On the other hand, visual intelligence also allows advanced interaction with texts in the environment. Users can request summaries, translations, or even listen to the content aloud. This feature is capable of identifying contact data such as phone numbers, email addresses and websites, as well as executing actions based on the type of text.
Another feature will be the ability to use the camera to query ChatGPT, OpenAI’s popular chatbot, and get detailed responses about the objects and places around them.
Finally, you can use the functionality to identify objects around you and search for similar items on the Internet, through Google.
