Now more than in previous months, a lot of information has come out in relation to Nintendo Switch 2, a console that until now has not been shown by the company that owns the intellectual property, and that has generated high expectations towards consumers and the media. It has already been leaked what the device will look like, what its internal chips would be, and now there is information regarding the games in physical version.
The measurements of the games’ boxes appear to have been leaked via a listing on French retailer FNAC’s website. According to the information, the new boxes would have approximate dimensions of 19.5 x 13 cm, which has allowed a direct comparison to be made with the boxes of the original Nintendo Switch games.

For reference, the current console cases have dimensions of 16.7 x 10.5 cm, so the change is significant. The new ones would be noticeably larger in both height and width, with an increase of almost 3 cm in height and 2.5 cm in width.
This difference suggests that Nintendo could be looking for a more prominent and visible design on store shelves, perhaps to underline the generational leap. However, the change in size could also impact storage and transportation logistics, for both retailers and consumers.
Although this data comes from a leak and is not official, rumors continue to suggest that the company is making important adjustments to its new console and its associated products. It remains to be seen if these measures will be definitive and how players will react to the new design, especially since collectors wanted to unite their boxes on a single bookcase or shelf.
