Last week, one of the most anticipated releases of 2024 finally arrived, Sonic 3 The Movie, an installment in which new characters from the cast are presented and also others from yesteryear where even Jim Carrey reprises his role as the iconic Dr. Eggman. And with the success achieved at the box office, many fans are already thinking about when they will be able to see the film in the comfort of their homes, an answer that has come in a matter of a short time, fortunately for some.
According to a listing published by the Vudu streaming service, the film will be available for paid streaming on January 21, 2025, which coincides with Paramount’s usual strategy of bringing its films to streaming about 30 days after their theatrical release. Although this information has not yet been officially confirmed, the date is logical considering the background of the study.
Following this timeline, it is reasonable to assume that the release in physical format, such as Blu-ray, could occur between three and four months after the streaming debut, placing it somewhere in April or May 2025. This strategy would allow maximizing the income from digital sales and rentals before focusing on the market of physical collectors and distributors.
Arriving on domestic platforms, the film will look to continue its success, giving fans the opportunity to relive the team’s epic adventures as they face their most imposing adversary to date. However, it must also be considered that the January date is related to its rental and purchase, not an integration into the services as part of the catalog.
Remember that Sonic 3 The Movie is still in theaters.
