This year has been important if we talk about announcements in the world of video games, and where it closed with a flourish was at The Game Awards, a ceremony in which CD Projekt Red delighted us with the first trailer for the long-awaited The Witcher 4, where apparently the character Ciri will be the protagonist. And within this glimpse the fans noticed something in particular, something that they changed to the sorceress that bothered some and came without pain or glory to others.
The Polish company has confirmed that Ciara Berkeley will be in charge of giving life to the girl in the long-awaited title. The news was revealed in response to a query from a gaming outlet, where a studio representative assured that Berkeley, who already lent his voice for the presentation trailer, will also take on the role in the full game.
The representative highlighted the actress’s abilities, noting that her vocal performance is not only faithful to Ciri’s character, but manages to capture the essence of the character in an exciting way. “Ciara is a talented actress who impressed us with her enthusiasm and skills. “We think she really brought Ciri to life in the trailer and we’re excited for her work in the game,” he said.
With this confirmation, the return of Jo Wyatt, who previously played her in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, is ruled out. The voice change marks a new chapter in the evolution of the character, whose role in the narrative remains a mystery. And it is worth mentioning that well-known faces will continue to be present but perhaps with a less important role in the development.
The decision has sparked debate among fans, some of whom consider Wyatt a key piece in Ciri’s identity. However, others see this change as an opportunity to explore new dimensions of the character. CD Projekt Red is betting on Berkeley to continue building the rich history of the universe of Geralt of Rivia and his allies. And of course, the creation of the game in Unreal Engine has surprised everyone equally.
For now, there is no release date for the game.
