As time goes on, more and more information about the Switch 2 comes to light, and none of this data comes from Nintendo. Thanks to CES, new leaks have been released, and it has recently been revealed that the new console would not be compatible with the Switch dock.
Genki, who has been in charge of revealing new information about the Joy-Con and other accessories of the console, has told IGN that the Switch dock would not be compatible with the Switch 2. Although the new console fits inside the base which we all already have, the company ensures that “slits” have been added to ensure that they prevent these two elements from not working together.
Let’s remember that Nintendo has made it clear that the Switch 2 will be backward compatible, so you can use all the Switch software on the new console. However, it is unknown if the same will happen with the hardware. Along with this, a GameStop employee reported that Nintendo’s next platform will use MicroSD Express cards.
SD Express is a new standard for SD cards with much faster transfer speeds, allowing for performance not unlike what we see in SSD. If the Switch 2 truly adopts this standard, we’ll likely see similar performance in third-party games compared to the PlayStation, Xbox, and PC versions.
As always, we have to wait for Nintendo to share official information, something that will happen before March 31, 2025. On related topics, Amazon has begun listing accessories for the Switch 2. Likewise, the Switch 2 would already be on sale .
Author’s Note:
The Pro Controllers will most likely work without problems on the Switch 2, while the Joy-Cons may only connect remotely. There are still many doubts about the console, and it will not be until we have the hardware in our hands that many of these doubts will have a clear answer.
