Currently, it is known that Secret Level, the animated series focused on video games from Amazon Prime Video, will have a second season. And now it comes to light that the first could have had an episode dedicated to Halo’s Master Chief and Doom’s Doom Slayer.
That’s what creator Tim Miller and the show’s executive producer and supervising director Dave Wilson revealed in a Q&A a few weeks ago.
This took place after the release of the second wave of Secret Level episodes. One of the questions they were asked was if they could get agreements to use all the series they wanted. Likewise, how many rejections they had.

Wilson, upon hearing that, couldn’t help but laugh, and then he was asked how many people told him to ‘get out of this room.’ The producer revealed that they had previous agreements with the franchises they worked with.

This is why the process of bringing them to Amazon Prime Video was not so complicated. But there were cases in which there were agreements with Netflix or other companies, especially Hollywood ones, so nothing could be done for Secret Level.
Miller chimed in saying ‘I get a little angry when I read on the internet and they say ‘Wait, these morons took Spelunky when they could have had Halo?’ Or a bit similar. I’m like, ‘Man, you think we’re not talking to Halo or something?”

Dave Wilson sarcastically commented that it’s good to know that in 20 years those comments will still be read. The creator of Secret Level continued talking about the matter, as did Wilson. The latter revealed that they spoke with id Software, who is a good friend of theirs, and with Microsoft, who is also a good friend of theirs.
They wanted to do a crossover episode between Master Chief and the Doom Slayer. They even wrote a letter and the answer was ‘Nah’ (No).

Miller added, ‘We certainly prayed for Half-Life…so, you can imagine.’ Among other news related to the series, we added it to our recommendations of the best of 2024 and which games should come out in their second season.
