We are officially starting 2025, and with this new beginning the leaks and rumors in relation to Nintendo Switch 2 are stronger than ever, especially because we are in the official reveal quarter of the console, or at least that is what they left us Of course the managers months ago. With this in mind, more documents have emerged about what this device will be, and it seems that we are getting closer to the long-awaited announcement that has millions of people around the world waiting.
A patent filed in July 2023, but published recently, has intensified speculation about the console. The document details a system based on machine learning to improve image resolution, a technology similar to the DLSS developed by Nvidia. This advancement could mark a milestone in the graphics capabilities of portable consoles, offering visual quality comparable to more robust systems without sacrificing performance.
The technology would allow the resolution of games to be increased in real time, which is a significant advantage for developers. With DLSS or equivalent systems, titles could run with high-quality textures and graphics while maintaining consistent frame rates. In addition, as journalist Laura Kate Dale highlighted, this could reduce the size of games on physical media. That is, a title with 4K textures that would normally occupy 60 GB could be compressed to 20 GB when stored in 1080p resolution, and then enhanced in real time by the hardware.
The patent registration coincides with other rumors suggesting that Nintendo’s next console will be powered by Nvidia technology. It also lines up with recent leaks on Reddit, which show alleged internal components of the device. If confirmed, these images would corroborate claims of advanced specifications, suggesting a renewed focus on performance and graphics compatibility.
The announcement comes at a key time, as competitors such as Sony and AMD have already adopted similar enhancement technologies on their platforms. Not only could this move ensure that Nintendo remains competitive, but it would also open up new possibilities for developers looking to maximize visual quality on a handheld device.
