We are not lying when we say that GTA VI is one of the most anticipated games of 2025. Since Rockstar Games officially announced it, fans have been waiting for any news about this return of the successful crime saga loved by millions.

Where will GTA VI take place?
If you have been aware of everything related to GTA VI, you will know that a few years ago a lot of content for this upcoming Rockstar Games game was leaked. Among the first details that this leak revealed was the location of the next installment. Nothing more and nothing less than Vice City.
This fictional city is inspired by Miami. In the past we already visited it in GTA Vice City, which was one of the most popular titles in the saga. Of course, being a new generation video game and several years later, we will have a more extended look at the Florida version of this universe.

In GTA VI we will be in the state of Leonida of which Vice City is a part. However, we can visit more locations inspired by other locations in Florida. Its first trailer already showed us more swampy regions and some more rural spaces far from the hustle and bustle of the big city.
According to journalist Tom Henderson, who has been correct with several of his statements, we will also have a changing scenario. This would be inspired by Fortnite and GTA Online where each ‘season’ would add new locations to explore with different missions.
Who will be its protagonists?
GTA VI will continue with the tradition of the last installment by allowing us to use different protagonists. However, this time there will only be two instead of three, perhaps to tell a more focused story that does not go through as many different aspects as the previous one.
Here we will take control of Jason and Lucia, a pair of criminals who will seek to make a name for themselves in the underworld of Vice City. The inspiration for its story is the movie and real-life criminals Bonnie and Clyde, so we can surely expect a plot with quite a few twists and even heartbreaks.

So far there is no information on whether there will be differences between each of them in the field of gameplay. After all, in the fifth installment each character had their ‘special powers’ with Michael being able to slow down time for better aiming, Franklin with great driving skills and Trevor becoming an unstoppable force for several seconds. GTA VI will probably maintain these differences, but we will have to wait to know them in detail.
What new features will GTA VI add to gameplay?
In terms of gameplay, GTA VI leaks showed that it will be very similar to past installments. Our characters will be able to use different firearms to cause chaos, the police could arrive to stop our wave of crimes and we can also take control of different vehicles to travel through Leonida.
However, it seems that not everything will remain there but that there will be several surprises. According to Rockstar Games, the developers are working on different things that will blow players’ minds. However, they did not go into details about this, although we could get an idea.

A few years ago Rockstar Games released a vacancy that was apparently to work on GTA VI. Here they stipulated that they were looking for someone skilled in creating large-scale destruction on stages. It seems that it will have a fairly high level of detail like Red Dead Redemption 2 with scenarios that can be destroyed in different ways.
Will there be more political correctness in the game?
Throughout their history, Grand Theft Auto titles were characterized by quite a bit of irreverence. From mockery of different minorities and jokes with many stereotypes that are somewhat problematic for today’s society. It seems that GTA VI could greatly reduce this.
This is according to a Bloomberg report which claims that Rockstar Games asked writers to be more careful with minorities. That is to say that for this installment perhaps we will not have so many jokes of this style. Although, since it is the criminal world, there will surely be no shortage of high-sounding words and off-color humor.

This report resonates quite a bit with some changes made by Rockstar in recent years. In fact, in the remasterings of the III, Vice City and San Andreas trilogy there were changes to some things in the setting to make less fun of minorities. Also in the re-release of GTA V for new generation consoles, a toy that was sold in stores and made fun of transgender people was eliminated.
It must also be taken into account that GTA VI would be the first game in the saga that would not feature Dan Houser, who was the main writer of the saga until the fifth installment. So we’re likely to see a change in the handling of the story, but we don’t know how different it might be.
When does GTA VI come out?
So far GTA VI does not have an exact release date. Rockstar Games simply said that it will arrive sometime in the fall of 2025. This means that it could launch any time between September and December of this year.
However, the report we mentioned above from Bloomberg also indicated that there could be a change in this date. This is due to some problems that arose in development and that would probably push its launch until 2026. Let’s hope that is not the case.

Unfortunately, since its first trailer in December 2023 we have not had any news about GTA VI, which causes fans to worry about a delay. Of course we should have faith in Rockstar Games and their work. If they decide that a delay is best, we will have nothing to do but wait so as not to have another broken game on our hands.
Of course we cannot forget the consoles on which it will be available. The title will be exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. At the moment there is no mention of a port for PC, although with the importance that this platform has gained in recent years, it will probably arrive some time later.
