Aniplex has announced Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, an anime series based on the PlayStation game Ghost of Tsushima, developed by Sucker Punch Productions. The debut is expected on Crunchyroll during 2027.
Takanobu Mizuno, who directed the Star Wars: Visions episode “The Duel,” will direct the series at the Kamikaze Douga production studio, while Gen Urobuchi (NITRO PLUS) will handle story composition. The anime will be produced in collaboration with Aniplex, while Sony Music will be the partner for the music and soundtracks. Together, the companies aim to bring “traditional samurai aesthetics to life with cinematic storytelling and impactful imagery.”

Las Vegas, Nevada, January 6, 2025 – Crunchyroll, the global anime brand, together with Aniplex, Sony Music and PlayStation Productions, today announced a new anime series adapted from the award-winning “Ghost of Tsushima” video game from Sucker Punch Productions and his multiplayer cooperative experience “Legends”, inspired by Japanese fairy tales and mythology.
The Ghost of Tsushima anime will be produced in collaboration with Aniplex, the studio behind world-famous series such as Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Solo Leveling and Sword Art Online. The adaptation will be directed by director Takanobu Mizuno, with Gen Urobuchi (NITRO PLUS) composing the story and animating KAMIKAZE DOUGA. Together, the team will bring Ghost of Tsushima: Legends’ traditional samurai aesthetic, cinematic storytelling and impactful visuals. Sony Music will be the strategic partner for the music and soundtrack of the series.
