It has been an interesting week for Switch 2 leaks. As part of CES 2025, Genki, a company focused on manufacturing accessories, revealed a lot of information related to the next Nintendo console. Many were surprised to see a hardware shell that, according to attendees, was created using a real Switch 2. However, Genki has revealed that this is not the case, and his accessories were created using previous leaked information.
Seeing all the leaks that came out this week, GameSpark contacted Genki in Japan directly. Here, the outlet had the opportunity to speak with the company’s boss, who revealed that the accessories and shell they brought to CES were created using leaked information, and they don’t actually have a real Switch 2 in their hands.
Along with this, CNET also contacted Nintendo to find out the company’s opinion on this issue. Surprisingly, the Big N responded, pointing out that everything Genki showed is not official. This is what a company spokesperson commented:
“The hardware that Genki presented as Nintendo hardware at CES is not official and was not provided to the company by us.”
This makes it clear that Genki does not own a Switch 2, as many had pointed out at the time. Likewise, this would explain why Nintendo has filed a lawsuit against this company, and that is that by not having the new console, they have not signed a confidentiality agreement, and are free to do and show whatever they want.
However, the possibility is not ruled out that another company already has the Switch 2 in its hands and is manufacturing accessories for the console and, in this case, they do have a confidentiality agreement that prevents them from showing anything ahead of time. On related topics, Nintendo has shared another statement about these leaks. Likewise, they list more than 15 games for the Switch 2.
Author’s Note:
It’s clear that no one wants to mess with Nintendo. While it seems like Genki wanted to impress at CES, it seems like it got more attention than necessary and now they have to take care of something that could affect them.
