Assassin’s Creed Shadows is approaching its launch so we already have several glimpses and details of its gameplay. However several players on Reddit are concerned about one very specific thing that is very absent in all the trailers so far: parkour.
Throughout the history of Assassin’s Creed, parkour has been a constant. This is the ability of assassins to scale tall buildings or structures with relative ease, as well as run across scaffolding, shopkeepers, and other scenery elements to escape their pursuers. In fact, it was one of its main differentiators when the original was launched in 2007.
Reddit users mention that in the trailers we have seen practically no parkour, so they believe that this will be very absent in Shadows. They also explain that this could be due to Japan and its architecture in feudal times. Since only the castles were tall and the villages actually had small buildings compared to those in other times and parts of the world.

We recommend: Assassin’s Creed Shadows will have an option to follow the historical canon
While it is true that parkour was used more in the classic stage of Assassin’s Creed, it was still maintained in titles like Odyssey. But in Valhalla we began to see that there was a considerable decrease. It seems that Shadows will follow this same path and perhaps just focus on Naoe’s hook for more urban mobility. Are you disappointed that this is the case or are you indifferent?
What do we know about Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be the next major entry in this beloved assassin series from Ubisoft. Its action will take us to feudal Japan, a time highly requested by fans since its beginnings. Here we will take control of its pair of protagonists: the shinobi, Naoe and the samurai of African descent, Yasuke.
Both will play differently, with Naoe more focused on stealth like in the classic games and Yasuke more focused on action like in Origins and later. Its launch is scheduled for February 14 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Will they buy it?
