After so much waiting, in 2024 news was released regarding Toy Story 5, the next film in Pixar’s debut franchise, which has been able to break generational barriers, since no matter at what age these films are seen, they are still enjoying the freshness of humor and the themes handled. And while fans hope to see these characters on the big screen again, there are others who think it will be a waste of time and that they no longer have material to stretch the narrative.
Tim Allen, renowned actor who voices Buzz Lightyear, revealed that he has completed his first recording session for the new film, marking his return to the character after five years. During an interview, he shared that his reunion with the warrior was “strange at first,” but that over time he managed to recover his essence. Allen described the experience as challenging, but rewarding, being part of such a significant project.
He stressed that releasing the film is not a mere commercial strategy, but rather a “very, very intelligent” story that justifies continuing with the adventures of living plastics. “If they hadn’t created a brilliant script, they wouldn’t have called me and Tom Hanks,” he said, referring to his partner, who voices Woody. According to the actor, the story promises to be fun and exciting, with a thoughtful approach that will resonate with both children and adults.
Directed by Andrew Stanton, who already has credits in all the previous installments and is known for hits such as Finding Nemo and Wall-E, the film will explore how toys face a new challenge: children’s growing fascination with electronic devices. like tablets and cell phones. This current theme will allow the franchise to connect with modern family dynamics, while maintaining the humor that characterizes the brand.
Although there is still more than a year to go until its release, expectations for Toy Story 5 are high. Allen said there is still work to do, with more recording sessions on the horizon, but reaffirmed his enthusiasm for the project. Fans can expect another installment that promises to expand the legacy of one of Disney and Pixar’s most beloved sagas.
Its premiere is scheduled for June 19, 2026.
