The Meta social network will add a new feature that will allow new users to choose “starter collections” when completing their registration. What do these collections consist of? They are simply a list of users chosen by the platform, who, when selecting the package, you will automatically follow.
“We are testing a new way to easily find and follow collections of profiles that post about popular topics on Threads,” explains Adam Mosseri, director of Threads and Instagram, from his account on the platform. “They will be suggested when you sign up in the app and in the “For you” section. Shout out to the Threads community leaders who have created and shared these collections.”
As he explains in his statement, these lists, curated by the app’s moderators, are made by “community leaders” chosen by Threads. That is, only a few chosen users will be able to create new lists for new members.
These collections have various themes for the different possible interests of users. Sports, fashion, food, pop culture and video games are just some of the categories included in the different packages.
If you’re a Bluesky user, you probably raised an eyebrow when reading this article. Yes, this new functionality seems like an exact copy of the platform’s starter packages. Threads in recent months has had a fixed eye on the growing social network that, despite having only a fraction of the users, has proven to be a combatant in, I mean no, the three-sided battle between Bluesky, Threads and X (formerly known as Twitter).
