We are facing moments of change in the DC movie universe, given that a couple of years ago great businessmen like James Gunn entered the company, with a new adaptation of Superman that promises a lot, this being the first step towards something completely renewed. With that in mind, users understand that there will be casts never seen before, and they fear what will happen to the world of Batman, where the biggest concern is who could bring his iconic villain to life.
Bill Skarsgård, recognized for his ability to bring disturbing characters to life such as Pennywise in It and Count Orlok in Nosferatu, has sparked the imagination of fans by talking about his possible foray into this part of cinema. During an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz, the actor shared that he has a unique vision for playing the Joker. “I think I have a really cool Joker inside of me. “It would be quite sick,” he confessed, making it clear that he would be interested in taking on the role if the opportunity presented itself.
The possibility of seeing him as the Prince of Crime becomes more relevant when considering his relationship with director Andy Muschietti, with whom he worked on the It adaptations and who is now in charge of The Brave and the Bold, a new Batman story. Although there is no official confirmation about the character’s appearance in this project, the chemistry between both artists and the actor’s history in dark roles could be a perfect combination. Skarsgård also did not rule out the possibility of playing Bruce Wayne himself, highlighting his approach to complex characters.
The actor also reflected on the influence that Heath Ledger, with his legendary performance in The Dark Knight, had on his career. “When I saw his performance, I was 17 years old, and that performance had a profound impact on me,” he recalled. Skarsgård said that the way Ledger transformed the Joker inspired him to pursue roles that explore emotional and psychological extremes. This approach, combined with his acting background, makes him a natural candidate for such a multifaceted character.
Skarsgård has demonstrated a strong ability to transition between the monstrous and the human, creating figures that defy expectations. From the terrifying Pennywise to roles like Roman Godfrey in Hemlock Grove, the actor has forged a path that positions him as an ideal choice to explore the darkest and most chaotic layers of the Joker. Although nothing is confirmed, the possibility of seeing him in the Batman universe remains an exciting topic of discussion among fans.
