Sonic returned to the cinema accompanied, this time, by the theatrical debut of Shadow with the long-awaited Sonic 3, with Jim Carrey. Now that the film that mixes live action and computer graphics is finally in cinemas, the screenwriters have taken the liberty to talk about their aspirations and dreams for the future, which seems to include a new video game adaptation.
As revealed in an interview with IGN, the screenwriters Josh Miller and Pat Casey would have a particular video game in mind for a future film adaptation: it is one of the most beloved titles of one of the most famous Nintendo series which, in fact, is already the subject of an agreement between the big N and Sony for the creation of a live-action.
“We always thought, even while we were playing it, that Wind Waker would be the perfect Zelda for a film adaptation: sure, it’s not the most classic of products set in the well-known Hyrule with its canonical characteristics, but it’s so… cinematic! They’re working on the live-action now, sure, but after this comes out we’d really love to work on a Wind Waker movie!”
The chances that the live-action currently in the works will be inspired even in part by this 2002 chapter are practically zero: as fans well know, it is a totally different title from the tradition of the series. Furthermore, as if that wasn’t enough, director Wes Ball is known for making dark and dark fantasy films: more than Wind Waker, in short, we have reason to believe that the live-action will be inspired by one of the very latest chapters of the series, s not directly to the Twilight Princess and Majora’s Mask chapters.
