This 2024 was not as good with video games as 2023, but we still had several gems that made us happy for several days. From Final Fantasy VII Rebirth to Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Silent Hill 2 Remake and little Astro Bot made this a great year.
Of course, there were no shortage of those unfortunate instances of video games that we don’t know how they came to our consoles. Well, not only did they not fulfill what they promised, they also fell short in many aspects. Here we leave you the ones that disappointed us the most in 2024.
Unknown 9 Awakening is one of those video games with interesting concepts but poor execution
When Unknown 9 Awakening was released we gave it the benefit of the doubt. After all, it is a completely new idea, not to mention that its gameplay advancements looked interesting. Unfortunately this didn’t translate very well to its final release.

Although the combat really had interesting concepts, the execution was not the best. The artificial intelligence of the enemies was practically non-existent. Its story too confusing for its own good because they wanted to expand it outside of video games. We also cannot forget its performance, as it was full of graphic and visual errors, in addition to the fact that the graphics seem from 2 generations ago. Maybe it was because it comes from a new studio, but perhaps they should have left it in the oven longer.
Star Wars Outlaws
Although with the two Star Wars Jedi titles it seemed that video games in the galactic saga would follow a good path, we did not have Outlaws. In itself it really is not a very bad video game, in fact it is enjoyable, however the promise of everyone being outlaws in this universe remained just another clone of Assassin’s Creed and Ubisoft’s open world formula.

Yes there are quite a few things to do but none of them are particularly outstanding. Besides, for an outlaw, everything you can do is quite limited. Even games like Red Dead Redemption II and GTA V did a better job of giving us an outlaw fantasy than this title, even though they are 6 and 9 years apart. That’s why disappointment hurts more.
Skull and Bones left quadruple A video games in a bad light
We may even have readers who don’t know that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag’s naval combat was so good that Ubisoft decided to make a game centered around it. However, after a 10-year development full of several setbacks, it only ended up being one of the most disappointing video games of 2024.

The worst thing is that it didn’t even take the best of Assassin’s Creed. Rather, he stripped it down to its most basic levels to give us a title that we wouldn’t recommend to anyone. There is practically nothing to do outside the ship, the boardings are simply cutscenes and there is little to do. Especially for supposedly being the first quadruple-A game in history, it has very little content to offer and with graphics that really don’t surprise anyone.
Suicide Squad kill the Justice League
Perhaps one of the biggest disappointments of the year was Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League. This especially since it came from Rocksteady who rose to the top of fame with their Batman Arkham trilogy of games. Unfortunately Warner put them to work on a game as a service that really shouldn’t have been.
If you play it, it has some promising aspects, such as the interaction between the squad members and the premise of taking on the Justice League. However, everything falls apart with excessively repetitive gameplay where the only objective is to encourage you to buy its virtual currency to advance faster.

Rocksteady had the potential to give the squad an unforgettable single-player story. Unfortunately they fell prey to the greed of their bosses to give us an attempt at gaming as a service that no one asked for. Although it lived longer than we thought, it is already doing its choking kicks and will probably close its servers in a few months.
