Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has hit theaters internationally, and that includes Mexico. Although many thought that this was going to be the blue hedgehog’s last cinematic adventure, the reality is very different. We know that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is already on the way, and the third film’s post-credits scenes give us an idea of what to expect.
CAREFUL. SPOILERS FOR SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 3
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has two post-credits scenes, each giving us an idea about the future of this series. The first of these, and the most substantial, shows us an army of Metal Sonic, and Amy Rose helping Sonic in a precarious situation. In this way, it is clear that the blue hedgehog’s next adventure on the big screen could be inspired by Sonic CD.
Let’s remember that in Sonic CD we saw Metal Sonic and Amy Rose for the first time, two characters that remain valid in the franchise’s canon to this day. In this way, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 would put our protagonist face to face with an evil version of him, while he is pursued by love. Although the relationship between Sonic and Metal Sonic is likely to continue, it will be interesting to see if the “love” between the two hedgehogs is the same as in the games or something more reciprocated.
Finally, the second post-credits scene shows us Shadow’s sneakers, making it clear that the last one in the encounter survived. Now, at the moment, we don’t know what this means, but it’s likely that Hedgehog could get his own series, similar to what we saw with Knuckles, something that Keanu Reeves has hinted at in recent weeks.
It is clear that Sonic’s future outside of video games is more than positive. With Sonic the Hedgehog 4 on the way, and with the possibility of more series on the horizon, it is clear that SEGA and Paramount have found the formula to make the world’s fastest hedgehog have a space in this entertainment medium. On related topics, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is a box office success. Likewise, this is the movie’s dovetail.

At this rate, Sonic the Hedgehog 5 would be inspired by Sonic Heroes, something that will surely delight all fans. The dream, at least for the moment, would be to see something like Sonic Generations, but taking into account all the character’s big screen adventures.
