For the first time, Mexico receives a visit from the iconic RX-78 from Mobile Suit Gundam in the form of a statue more than 3 meters high that will be on display in the Villa Juguetón within the TV Azteca facilities. This effort, the result of collaboration between BANDAI NAMCO and TV Azteca, celebrates the impact that the anime series has had on the Mexican public.
Although many associate Gundam statues with the enormous figures located in Daiba, Japan, it is important to mention that this version was developed exclusively for Mexico, handcrafted and brought as a unique piece of art. An unmissable experience for fans of anime and Japanese culture!
When and where can you see the RX-78-2 Gundam?
The RX-78 will be available at TV Azteca’s Villa Juguetón from Saturday, December 21, 2024 to Monday, January 6, 2025. Admission will be completely free, allowing attendees to enjoy this work and take photos with one of the symbols most iconic of the Japanese anime that saw the light of day in the Mobile Suit Gundam series.
Gundam: An icon that transcends generations
Since its creation in 1979, Mobile Suit Gundam revolutionized the mecha and anime genre, exploring complex themes such as war, ethics, and humanity. The RX-78, with its characteristic white, blue, red and yellow colors, became a symbol of hope and innovation, inspiring generations of robotics and modeling fans.
The arrival of this statue in Mexico is a tribute to the great reception that the franchise has had in the country. In addition, the figure is part of the #GundamEnMexico trend, a celebration that allows Mexican fans to connect even more with this influential universe.
