In July 2023, a rumor emerged pointing to a remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. However, as time went by, this information was forgotten, since neither Xbox nor Bethesda had confirmed or denied this information. Now, a new leak suggests that this project is a reality, and we would be just a few weeks away from its official reveal.
According to Extas1s, the Oblivion remake is a reality. This project would be announced during an Xbox digital event planned for January 2025, and would be available sometime next year. Although there is no official information at the moment, the possibility of Xbox holding a special presentation in a few weeks is not zero.
Previously, it had been reported that the Oblivion remake was being handled by Virtuos Games, who have been in charge of ports and have helped develop multiple games in recent years. Likewise, it has been mentioned that this title would make use of the Unreal Engine 5, so we would be seeing a complete remake that will adapt the visual style of the Xbox 360 classic to modern consoles. At the moment it is unknown if this will be exclusive to Microsoft platforms, or if it will also be available on PlayStation 5.
As at the time, Xbox and Bethesda have remained silent, so we can only wait until January to see if this leak turned out to be correct or not. On related topics, The Elder Scrolls VI will not be released on PlayStation 5. Likewise, Bethesda has shared more details about the next game in this series.
Author’s Note:
Considering that The Elder Scrolls VI is a game that, perhaps, will be available at the end of the generation, although it suits us, the idea of a remake of the fourth installment could be perfect for this moment, giving Xbox users a pleasant surprise for 2025.
