Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is a success at the box office. The blue hedgehog’s most recent cinematic foray has raised more than $60 million dollars, a figure that will increase in the coming days. To the surprise of some, Paramount’s work has surpassed the performance of Mufasa and Disney.
According to Deadline, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 grossed $60.1 million in its opening weekend, and another $9 million on Monday, and is expected to reach another $50 million between December 25 and 29. By comparison, Mufasa made $35.4 million in its opening weekend, followed by another $7 million on Monday, and could make another $45 million over the Christmas period. This is what Chris Aronson, president of domestic distribution at Paramount, commented regarding the success of the blue hedgehog:
“As we’ve seen the audience for this franchise grow, we saw a window in the market in December where we thought we could stand out. We have been able to achieve it. “Sonic is going to dominate during the holidays.”
Although $60 million is a good start for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, the film is estimated to have cost $122 million, so it still has a long way to go before Paramount sees green numbers. Let us remember that for a film to be considered profitable it needs to generate adobe of its budget, since advertising is also considered.
Although Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is now available in the United States, in some markets, such as Mexico, the film will be available until December 25. On related topics, this is the heart of the movie. Likewise, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will be a reality.
Author’s Note:
This shouldn’t be a surprise. Not only is each Sonic movie more faithful to its characters and world, but the quality of each production is increasing, making each installment better. Along with this, having the talent of renowned actors like Jim Carrey, Idris Elba and Keanu Reeves also helps a lot to make this possible.
