A week ago, Secret Level arrived on the Amazon Prime Video platform, a series of animations that tell the stories of various video games and pop culture franchises such as Warhammer 40K, Mega Man, Concord, Pac-Man and many others. And it is worth mentioning, it was thought that it would have no success, but it is quite the opposite, since the audience has had positive reviews of this work.
The company confirmed the renewal of the animated anthology for a second season after its debut. Although the details are kept secret, sources assure that it is already the most viewed animated series in the history of the platform. Although Amazon has not revealed exact figures, Luminate estimates point to 155.3 million minutes watched in the United States during its first days, equivalent to approximately 1.4 million views for its 109-minute total duration.
The first wave explored both the legacy and impact of video games, from classic titles like D&D to current productions like New World and the anticipated space opera Exodus. One of the most talked about episodes was Concord, which reflects on Sony’s decision to close its online shooter, generating debate between players and developers, especially for not deleting this animation.
Series creator Tim Miller, known for directing the first Deadpool film and the Netflix anthology Love, Death & Robots, expressed his pride in the series’ impact. “I hope that developers see in this work a way to honor the effort and passion they invested in their projects,” he commented, highlighting the opportunity to explore new narrative worlds.
It is expected that more franchises will arrive in the new episodes, especially if we are talking about the most important in the industry.
