Paprika – Dreaming a Dream, the animated feature film created by Satoshi Kon, restored in 4K for the first time, arrives in cinemas.
Following the success of Perfect Blue, screened at the cinema last April and achieving enormous success, Paprika is now returning to cinemas, in a special event lasting just three days: precisely 17, 18 and 19 February 2025.
The list of theaters in which it will be screened will be available shortly, while pre-sales will be open from January 16th.
Distributed in Italy for the first time in 2007, Paprika is one of the most beloved titles of the master Satoshi Kon together with works such as Perfect Blue and Tokyo Godfathers and is considered one of the milestones of Japanese animation. The film has influenced contemporary cinema, becoming a source of inspiration for various directors including Nolan and Aronofsky.
Based on the novel by Yasutaka Tsutsui, Paprika tells the story of Dr. Atsuko Chiba and her alter ego Paprika. Featuring a profoundly dreamlike atmosphere, the film talks about themes such as identity, the subconscious and the boundary between imagination and reality.
The work captured the audience with an original narrative and fascinating animations.
The event is organized by Nexo Studios for the new Anime at the Cinema Season.
Any lover of arthouse animation will surely be curious to see this masterpiece restored in 4K on the big screen.
