One Piece: the end date of the anime break announced

During the recent Jump Fest, several news regarding One Piece arrived, including new upcoming films and the resumption date of the animated series, which has been on hiatus since October.

As regards this last point, One Piece will return to the air starting from April 6, 2025. This break, as revealed by the creators themselves, is used to better work on the new episodes of Egghead’s narrative arc.

As the anime prepares for its return, the author of One Piece, Eiichirō Oda, has revealed that several projects related to the franchise are in play. Here are his words about it, read by Luffy’s voice actress, Mayumi Tanaka, during the event:

We will make manga, anime, films and live-action all seriously. One Piece has various plans and announcements in store for next year. We can’t wait for the anime to resume, which I think will be easier for everyone to enjoy with a system that’s more in line with the times.

In addition to the upcoming films and other updates to the franchise referenced in Oda’s message, the latter personally thanked Kazuki Yao, who has played Franky since 2005 and who will be replaced by Subaru Kimura, a Japanese actor and rapper of German who previously played the young version of Buggy in 2021.

Yao revealed that the reason for his abandonment was due to his precarious health conditions, which would no longer allow him to play the role at his best.
