After the commercial and critical success that was Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan began working on his next film. We’ve since heard information about certain actors involved, but it wasn’t until yesterday that it was confirmed that the acclaimed director is working on a film adaptation of The Odyssey, which will make use of all-new IMAX technology.
Through its social networks, Universal Pictures confirmed that Nolan is currently directing an adaptation of the Odyssey, a book that presents Odysseus’ epic journey to return home after the Trojan War. Best of all, a release date was also shared, and that is that The Odyssey will hit theaters on July 17, 2026.
“Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film ‘The Odyssey’ is a mythical action epic filmed around the world using new IMAX film technology. “The film brings Homer’s founding saga to IMAX cinema screens for the first time and opens in theaters worldwide on July 17, 2026.”
