Monolith Soft has positioned itself as one of Nintendo’s most important studios for several years now. Being in charge of the Xenoblade Chronicles series, and helping in the development of Breath of the Wild, this team is essential today. Now, it has been revealed that Nintendo has finally acquired 100% of Monolith Soft’s shares.
In 2007, Nintendo acquired 80% of Monolith’s shares, and by 2011 they already had 96%, with the other 4% in the hands of Hirohide Sugiura, Tetsuya Takahashi and Yasuyuki Honne, creators of the studio, something that had been maintained until March of this year. However, at some point between April and December 2024, the Big N finally took over the rest of the studio’s shares.
Although it is unknown when Nintendo acquired 100% of Monolith Soft’s shares, it is clear that this does not change anything in the relationship between the companies. For some time now, this team was already a first-party Big N studio, and this will continue in the future. In this way, it will be interesting to see everything this team has for us.
Currently, we know that Monolith Soft is working on Xenoblade Chronicles Help in the development of other games. On related topics, they compare Xenoblade Chronicles X with the original version and the Switch version. Likewise, Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition will have new content.
