Although the One Piece anime is still on hiatus, the future of this property looks very interesting, and 2025 will be an important year for the Straw Hat crew. During the recent edition of Jump Festa, it was confirmed that in addition to the anime, manga and live action, Eiichirō Oda, creator of the series, is already working on a new One Piece movie.
Among all the announcements that were made at Jump Fest 2025, the fact that Eiichirō Oda confirmed a new One Piece movie stands out. Unfortunately, at the moment there is no more information about this project. Its release date, story, and whether it will be an original story, or will adapt some part of the manga, are unknown. This is what the mangaka commented on the matter:
“We will do the manga, the anime, the movies, and the live action, all seriously! One Piece is already preparing several plans and announcements for next year. Please look forward to the resumption of television anime, which I believe will be easier for everyone to enjoy with a system that is more in line with these times.”
Along with this revelation, it was also confirmed that the One Piece anime will return to Japanese television, as well as streaming services worldwide, starting April 6, 2025. Finally, it was confirmed that Subaru Kimura will be in charge of give life to Franky, this after the original actor of the character confirmed that he would no longer continue lending his voice to this role.
For now we can only wait for more information about the One Piece movie to become available, something that will happen at some point next year. On related topics, One Piece will no longer be free on Crunchyroll. Likewise, One Piece reveals a long-awaited reunion.
Author’s Note:
After what has been done with anime films like Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Demon Slayer: Mugen Trian or Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, returning to a time where we see films that have no importance in the canon sounds like a a setback that will not be to the liking of many, although the One Piece film could well adapt part of the next arc of the manga.
