Although Borderlands 3 was not to everyone’s liking, it is undeniable that the series has grown significantly since its conception. In this way, Borderlands 4 will be available next, which promises to be one of the biggest installments in the series, and to excite the public even more, Randy Pitchford has shared new details about this title.
In a recent interview with GameSpot, Randy Pitchord, CEO of Gearbox, talked about some of the new features of Borderlands 4, hinting that we will see a much larger and freer world. This is what he said about it:
“Borderlands 4 is the most open and free of all the games in the franchise.
In Borderlands 4, all you see is a playable space that you can reach without loading time. All these scenarios, every scene, everything is explorable and accessible. One of the challenges of the term ‘open world’ is that other games have done different things with it and we are doing things that none of them have done. But there are things that we, specifically, don’t do because we are Borderlands.
I wouldn’t say ‘open world’ because that term comes with certain implications. That’s not who we are. But (Borderlands 4) is expansive, and it’s bigger than anything we’ve ever done, and it’s packed (with content) like nothing we’ve ever done. Chronologically, we started working on Borderlands 4 before we released Borderlands 3.
So some of the people who were working on Borderlands 3 joined the Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands team after Borderlands 3 came out and worked on Wonderlands. And after this, a lot of the people who worked on it joined the Borderlands 4 team.”
Unfortunately, at the moment there is no further information on aspects such as the game’s release date, beyond a release window of 2025. Considering that Borderlands 4 will be available next year, it is only a matter of time before more details about this delivery reaches our hands.
