Now Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel, Inc. have now announced that Jared Leto has joined the project and will play the iconic villain Skeletor. In addition to the Thirty Seconds to Mars singer, Sam C. Wilson in the role of Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson in the role of Goat Man and Kojo Attah in the role of Tri-Klops also join the cast.
It is not the first time that Jared Leto plays an antagonist, given that he played the role of Niander Wallace in Blade Runner 2049 and Joker in Suicide Squad and Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Additionally, Jared Leto won an Oscar for his portrayal of Raymond Rayon in the 2013 film Dallas Buyers Club.
We currently don’t know how Skeletor will be rendered in live-action, whether he will be reinterpreted in a modern way or whether he will be faithful to the original counterpart. If he were to follow the original design, it is likely that Leto will interpret the character through the use of motion capture or only on a vocal level.
