Meta confirmed that next year Instagram will receive a series of video editing tools, powered by artificial intelligence. The tool will be called Movie Gen and will have the ability to cover multiple areas in content creation.
“Movie Gen sets a new standard for immersive content with AI,” reads the tool’s presentation text on the official Meta page.
The application will be able to both edit existing material through user descriptions and create completely new videos, thanks to its generative capabilities.
Movie Gen will also have the ability to generate sound effects and even original soundtracks that reflect the tone, pace and style of your video.
Adam Mosseri, director of Instagram and Threads, expressed from his account on the platform: “I am very excited about Movie Gen, our first AI model that will allow you to change almost any aspect of your videos with a simple text prompt.”
“We hope to take it to Instagram next year,” he clarified, although he did not give any indication or approximation of a precise launch date.
The company had already revealed previews of this generative technology last October, but this new presentation has shown the impressive advances that have been achieved with this technology.
Movie Gen reminds us of the OpenAI tool, Sora. The ChatGPT video generator presents similar capabilities to those promised by the Meta tool, but we have also discovered that it has many technical limitations.
We must be clear that video generation technology is still in its infancy and that the results generated by these tools will often present logical errors or visual inconsistencies.
