The first trailer for James Gunn’s new Superman quickly went around the web and the entire world, reaching impressive numbers in a very short time: the new Superman, played by an interesting David Corenswet in a new costume that embraces the old and the new of character, is making fans talk both positively and negatively, but there was one opinion that had to be given by a celebrity who, more than anyone else, should know what it means to be the Man of Steel.
Henry Cavill, an actor known worldwide for his interpretation of Superman and Geralt of Rivia, has finally officially spoken out about his “replacement” and the new design of the costume he has worn on countless occasions.
Regarding the choice of David Corenswet as Superman, Cavill expressed himself thus in a recent interview:
“The character is a symbol of hope, strength and compassion. I have had the honor of playing him for many years and I believe the time has come for a new interpretation. David’s look and energy are perfect for the direction James Gunn is taking.”
Here are the considerations regarding the costume:
“The costume says a lot. It feels like a nod to the original Superman comics, while still embracing today’s cinematic advancements. David’s look fits the vision perfectly: he is young, optimistic and ready to redefine the role for a new generation.”
We remind you that, as announced in the film’s presentation trailer, Superman will arrive in cinemas around the world next July.
