4Gamer.net has published its usual end-of-year interviews with Japanese game developers. The website interviewed 164 different artists, many of whom anticipate new titles and announcements arriving in 2025. Among the developers interviewed we find Yosuke Saito who anticipated that an announcement related to the Nier franchise could arrive next year.
Yosuke Saito teased fans by saying that the 15th anniversary of the series could be the perfect time to announce a new chapter. Here are his words on the matter:
2025 will be an important year as it will be the 15th anniversary of the Nier series. Given this imminent anniversary, I would like to do something about it! Maybe we’ll announce something about the next game or related to it. I’m aware of what the fans’ expectations are, but it’s a bit complicated. That said, since I will probably be doing less direct work as a producer, I would appreciate it if fans could patiently look forward to what’s coming.
Born as a spin-off series of Drakengard, known in Japan as Drag-On Dragoon, Nier debuted in the world of video games in 2010 with the chapter of the same name and then got a sequel seven years later with Nier: Automata, which made the brand become known to the general public. In 2021, however, the remaster of the first chapter of the franchise was released.
