During the last The Game Awards ceremony, Capcom revealed that new Onimusha and Okami games are in development, something that surprised more than one fan. However, the Japanese company does not want to stop with these two franchises, since they plan to revive more classic properties in their possession.
Through a statement on the investor site, Capcom confirmed that they plan to revitalize more franchises in the future. Although they did not share detailed information, this statement has given hope to fans of properties like Dino Crisis. This is what the Japanese company commented:
“In addition to regularly releasing new major titles each year, Capcom focuses on reviving dormant IPs that have not had a new title launch recently.
“The company is working to further enhance corporate value by leveraging its rich content library, including the revival of previous IPs such as the two previously announced titles, in order to continually produce high-quality, high-efficiency titles.”
Earlier this year, Capcom shared a survey asking fans what properties they wanted to see return. In this case, Dino Crisis and Mega Man were the most popular choices. In this way, the possibility of these series having some type of presence in the video game industry in the future is not ruled out.
In the case of Mega Man, while we’ve seen multiple collections in recent years, it’s been quite some time since Mega Man 11, not to mention all the spin-offs that haven’t had a new installment in decades. For its part, Dino Crisis could well have a remake similar to what was done with Resident Evil. On related topics, here you can learn more about Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Likewise, here’s what we know about the Okami sequel.
