Following the resounding success of the Silent Hill 2 remake, Bloober Team is currently working on Cronos: The New Dawn. However, the studio already has several projects in mind, and one of these would be a fantasy horror game, something inspired by The Lord of the Rings, or at least that is the developers’ dream.
In a recent interview with Bonfire Conversations, Mateusz Renart, the director of the Silent Hill 2 remake, expressed his desire to work with The Lord of the Rings property to create a horror game inspired by Middle-earth, to the extent that has come to propose this on multiple occasions, but, as we already know, this has not become a reality.
Bloober Team is currently working on Cronos: The New Dawn, a sci-fi horror game. However, nothing prevents the studio from fulfilling its dream in the future, even though ownership of The Lord of the Rings is not involved, although this should not be immediately ruled out either.
Let’s remember that in recent years we have seen multiple The Lord of the Rings games, exploring different genres. However, none of these projects have managed to be a commercial or critical success. For its part, Bloober Team managed to impress more than one person with the remake of the Konami classic, so its new reputation may be more than enough to convince the owners of the Tolkien property to explore the concept that Renart wants to make. a reality.
For the moment we can only wait. In the meantime, we remind you that Cronos: The New Dawn will be available sometime in 2025. On related topics, you can check out our review of Silent Hill 2 here. Likewise, this is our gameplay of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Tower.
Author’s Note:
After the Silent Hill 2 remake, if Bloober Team wants to make a Mordor horror game, I’ll buy it. The studio is talented enough to not fall into the basic, generic, boring places that some indie developers have done with things like Mickey Mouse.
