The movie Terrifier 3 has been placed at number 1 at the American box office, but many people are finding the scenes too bloody.
Some viewers have entered this horror saga for the first time with Terrifier 3since it probably sounded like the two deliveries were good because at the time they made a lot of noise, but perhaps they didn’t know what they were going to find. And… Surprise! There are brutal scenes that are now causing controversy.
Attention SPOILERS. The controversy surrounding Terrifier 3 is largely due to the extreme depictions of violence, especially those involving children, something that has touched on a particularly sensitive topic even within the horror genre. In this type of film, although it is common to see explicit violence, the graphic representation of violence against minors is usually a limit that many consider taboo.
In this third installment, the opening sequence is one of the main sources of controversy.
In Terrifier 3, the villain, Art the Clown, brutally murders a family on Christmas Eve, including the parents of a young child. Although the murder of the child is not shown directly, it is suggested clearly and graphically through the audio, and the consequences of this violence are then shown. This type of scene has caused outrage among certain viewers, as it is considered to cross a moral line by representing, explicitly or implicitly, the suffering of minors.
The murder of children in horror films is not something completely new, like the Pennywise example in It, but it is still uncommon and, when it does occur, it is usually treated with a level of subtlety. Terrifier 3, on the other hand, plays with this transgression by incorporating Christmas elements, a time traditionally associated with family and innocence, which makes the violence even more shocking.
The film’s director talks about these scenes.
Damien Leone told TF: «Everything I write has to be faithful to the character and organic. Sometimes I feel that with Art, when I get to a scene or a taboo topic, and I think: Oh, what if this is a little too much? This is going to scare people. And he tells me: I would do that. And I have to say: You’re right, you would do that. And I have to include it. That becomes a really exciting challenge; Can I play with these taboo topics and keep the audience in their seats? “We will see.”
While actor David Howard Thornton, who plays Art, the clown in Terrifier 3, adds: “I think the important thing is that we’re not doing something like, you know, an alley massacre with children in these movies, where I’m not going to be there burning a child, and that’s something I would have a problem with.” .
The Terrifier 3 movie has already been released in some countries, while in others it will arrive on October 31, 2024, just to coincide with Halloween. Do you want to see it? Leave me your comments below in the opinion section.
