On the night of Saturday, October 12, 2024, on the field of the Cuauhtémoc stadium, the Mexican Soccer Teamdirected by Javier: the ‘Vasco’ Aguirre, faces Valencia CF, from the Spanish La Liga, for a friendly duel. This is Professor Aguirre’s third match in his third stage at the head of the Tricolor, after beating New Zealand 3-0 and drawing goalless against Canada.
Goalie: ‘Speak’ Rangel
Defenses: Jorge Sánchez, Chiquete Orozco, César Montes and Bryan González
Midfielders: Ozziel Herrera, Luis Romo, Charly RodrÃguez and Alexis Vega
Attackers: Germán Berterame and Guillermo MartÃnez
The first minutes of the game are being played, and the few fans who attended the match have already retaliated, with a nice goal scored by Alexis Vega, in a free kick that the Toluca player converted into a score for the national squad.
Soccer is, for many, the sport par excellence for all Mexicans. Many of us, when we were children, dreamed of being Hugo Sánchez, or later Cuauhtémoc Blanco, or a few yesterdays Javier: ‘Chicharito Hernández.
However, for some time now, fans seem to have lost affection for the game of cue and ball. Little by little they begin to become interested in other sports and/or entertainment products, and, consequently, we find more and more spaces in the stands.
The Mexican Soccer Team is a clear example of this problem. In both the United States and Mexico, admissions are on the decline, activating the alerts of those who thought that soccer was here to stay, that they would never have to face these types of issues.
