We talk about the Mugello Circuit in the first Vodcast produced by Pirelli dedicated to the golden world of Formula 1 available on the YouTube channel of the Milanese company. The first episode of Box Box Box hosted by the well-known journalist Tom Clarkson features as protagonists the three-time world champion of Oracle Red Bull Racing Max Verstappen, the Director of the FIA Single-seater Department Nikolas Tombazis and the Team Principal of the McLaren F1 Team, Andrea Star.
The Red Bull driver did not hesitate to answer the question: “Which circuit would you most like to see on the Formula 1 calendar? “Mugello, for its fast corners. Compared to many stop and go circuits, Mugello has a fantastic flow of very fast corners.”
Always a great admirer of the Tuscan track, Max was also at Mugello in early October for a test with his Verstappen.com Racing team on GT3 cars. Together with the three-time World Champion, his father Jos Verstappen and Thierry Vermeulen, a long-time friend and son of his manager, Raymond Vermeulen, also took to the track.
Also recent is the Pirelli F1 test at Mugello scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday of this week with three teams.
Red Bull Racing has fielded its reserve driver Liam Lawson, who will replace Daniel Ricciardo starting from the next Grand Prix while the McLaren F1 Team has used one of the two starters, namely Lando Norris. Scuderia Ferrari alternated Carlos Sainz at the wheel of the SF-24 in the morning and Charles Leclerc in the afternoon.
The Pirelli technical team worked on two parallel programs: Red Bull and Ferrari were busy developing the compounds for 2025, in particular the harder ones in the range planned for next season, while McLaren, which brought to Mugello a mule car, focused on the first tests of the 2026 tire prototypes.
At the end of the day, 390 laps had been completed. The most active on the track was Lando Norris (118 laps, best time 1’21”302) followed by Liam Lawson (116 laps, 1’23”219), Charles Leclerc (79 laps, 1’21”053) and Carlos Sainz (77 laps, 1’21”890).
