The release date of Scream 7 has already been confirmed, as the slasher sequel is getting closer and closer
The release date of Scream 7 has already been confirmed, since the slasher sequel is getting closer. After the success of Scream (2022) y Scream 6 (2023), Ghostface is set to return for a seventh film, with the film’s original screenwriter, Kevin Williamson, directing. The premiere of Scream 7 has faced a number of setbacks, including the loss of stars Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, as well as original director Christopher Landon, but the film is now full steam ahead with Neve Campbell set to reprise her role as the original final girl, Sidney Prescott.
Campbell now takes to Instagram to reveal that Scream 7 will hit theaters on February 27, 2026. The post, which Williamson also shared on his own profile, includes a graphic of Friday, February 27 on a calendar, with Ghostface’s signature knife stuck in it next to some blood stains.
“It will be a killer year in 2026,” Campbell writes in his caption, including the hashtag Scream 7.
What does the 2026 launch mean for Scream 7?
Now, it has been confirmed that Scream 7 will premiere in February 2026, and will arrive just under three years after Scream 6which had good reviews and hit theaters in March 2023. This release came just over a year after the release of Scream of 2022, which premiered in January. Releasing in the first quarter of the year, therefore, is a franchise pattern, and it’s one that served the previous two installments well at the box office, with Scream 6for example, raising $166.3 million.
The release date also suggests that Scream 7 moves forward without the behind-the-scenes drama that plagued her for several months. The problems began in November 2023 with the firing of Barrera, who played Sam Carpenter in the two most recent films, for social media posts about the conflict between Israel and Hamas. This news was followed by the departure of Ortega (Tara Carptenter) due to what is reported to be a combination of scheduling conflicts and a salary dispute.
In December 2023, it was announced that Landon (Happy Death Day) would be leaving the film due to these behind-the-scenes issues. With Campbell reprising his role as Sidney, Williamson directing and a release date confirmed, Scream 7 finally seems to be on the right track. As for a filming start date, the 2026 release suggests the film won’t begin filming until sometime in 2025.
