Parents will soon have more control over the time their children spend on Fortnite, as Epic Games is implementing new time limits for the game.
The company had already introduced several parental control options and now focuses on monitoring the time children dedicate to Fortnite. This change comes during the game’s Marvel update, which attracts many young players.

Epic Games wants to curb young people’s addiction to Fortnite
The addictive nature of the game led Epic Games to create new controls that allow parents to better manage their children’s gaming time. The new features, announced on an official blog, include time reporting and options to set when and how long kids can play. With limits active, players will receive a warning when they are within 30 minutes of finishing. After this time, the game will be unavailable until the next game window. Additionally, parents will be able to adjust chat permissions and filter inappropriate language, as well as control in-game purchases.
Parental controls are nothing new in the world of video games, with consoles such as PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo already offering similar tools.
Currently, Fortnite is in its “Chapter 5, Season 4” update, called Absolute Doom, where players face the villain Doctor Doom. The event ends on November 2, 2024.
