The release window for Happy Gilmore 2. Directed by Kyle Newacheck and written by Tim Herlihy and Adam Sandler, the long-awaited sequel to the 1996 film will see Sandler return to his iconic role as Happy Gilmore, with Christopher McDonald and Julie Bowen also set to reprise their respective roles as Shooter McGavin and Virginia Venit. Benny Safdie, Bad Bunny, Margaret Qualley and Maxwell Jacob Friedman also round out the supporting cast, with Travis Kelce and John Daly set to make a cameo. Happy Gilmore 2 will be released on Netflix, continuing Sandler’s partnership with the streaming service.
Speaking to OutKick, Daly revealed when the next sequel to Happy Gilmore on Netflix. He initially said that he had already filmed his part for the film, but the professional golfer also added that the film will be released in March or April next year.
«I’ve already filmed it, let’s finish it! It will come out on Netflix maybe in March or April of next year. “Shhh!” he said.
What does the launch window mean for Happy Gilmore 2?
Now that it seems that the release window for Happy Gilmore 2, The news follows the trend of Sandler’s most recent projects on Netflix. In fact, some of its most notable titles were released in the March-April window. This includes this year’s Spaceman, which debuted on the streaming platform on March 1 after a limited theatrical release in late February.
Murder Mystery 2 from last year also premiered in late March on the streaming service. While the sequel received mixed reviews, it was a huge hit for the streaming service, reaching the Top 10 in over 90 countries and garnering over 64 million hours watched in its release weekend. During that same weekend, it became Netflix’s second biggest comedy with over 42 million views. It seems that this window is successful for Sandler and Netflix, so Happy Gilmore 2 could already be on its way to achieving significant audience numbers. While many other Netflix projects starring Sandler also premiered in August and November, the March-April window seems successful enough for the streaming service to continue using it with its most bankable star.
