Fiumicino, 2 October 2024- “In the night just gone by, the ASD Atletica Villa Guglielmi was once again hit by an episode of theft and vandalism at the Happy Sport gym, near the Cetorelli sports field. Youth weightlifting equipment, including weights and mats, was stolen and the office was trashed, with computers and other equipment stolen. Furthermore, the vandals poured bleach on the floor and damaged further equipment, including sound instruments”: thus the group leaders of the Ezio civic list, the Democratic Party and the Italian Left.
“This episode, the second in the space of a few weeks – they continue – represents a hard blow for a fundamental sporting reality for the area, which offers a valuable service to young people and families. We cannot allow such acts to threaten the safety and serenity of those who frequent this facility. On behalf of the councilors of the Ezio Civic List, the Democratic Party and the Italian Left of Fiumicino, we express our utmost solidarity with Atletica Villa Guglielmi. We believe it is essential to pay particular attention to the entire area around the Cetorelli Stadium, which has been around for too long it is hostage to constant acts of vandalism. It is time for the institutions to intervene firmly to restore safety and decorum to this area and protect the sports facilities which represent a pillar of our community.”
